Crucial Union Elections to be Held at Tata Workers Union with Key Positions in Contest
Tata Steel hosts significant elections for Tata Workers Union today, anticipating new committee member appointments.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel is witnessing a pivotal moment as the Tata Workers Union, the company’s officially recognized union, conducts its elections to select committee members and key officials Saturday.
The elections are being held on the Tata Steel premises, with the vote counting planned for the evening to announce the new committee members.
A collective of 214 committee members will elect 11 officials, including roles such as President, General Secretary, Deputy President, Treasurer, four Vice Presidents, and three Assistant Secretaries.
Team Tunnu is making concerted efforts to regain influence in this election, providing its incumbent officials another chance to lead.
Sanjeev Chaudhary Tunnu emerges as the unopposed candidate for President, with Satish Singh from Team Tunnu likely to take on the General Secretary role. The Deputy President’s race includes Shailesh Singh, while Harishankar Singh aims for re-election as Treasurer.
For the vice presidency, Team Tunnu has nominated Shahnawaz Sanjay Singh and Sanjeev Tiwari, with the retirement of Vice President Shatrughan Rai leaving a vacancy. Nitish Raj, Saroj Singh, and Ajay Chaudhary are Team Tunnu’s choices for the Assistant Secretary positions.
