Board will be formed for transgenders, committee will also be formed at district level

In Jharkhand, a board will be established to support transgender people. Additionally, a committee will be established in every district, with the Deputy Commissioner serving as its chairperson. Transgender people currently hold OBC-II classification.

Ranchi – An integrated plan for their upliftment is being prepared by the department. On January 16, at the conference room of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Kripanand Jha, Secretary, Women, Child Development, and Social Security Department, provided the media with the aforementioned information.

According to Secretary Kripanand Jha, the Chief Minister’s directives are being followed at the departmental level in order to advance social justice at all levels of social security. He said that the state is running nine programs under the Sarvajan Pension Yojana, three of which are centrally managed.

The state government oversees six programs. In order to provide prompt benefits to the retirees, the government has established a distinct plan for a Rs 100 crore revolving fund. In just four years, there has been an 82% growth in the number of state pensioners.

Under the Aapki Adhikar, Aapki Sarkar, and Aapki Dwar scheme, over 6 lakh 56 thousand pension applications have been received as of 2023. Women in the 50–60 age range and SC–ST individuals are also qualified for old age benefits. An estimated 18 lakh extra beneficiaries are anticipated.

According to the departmental secretary, 6 lakh 21 thousand beneficiaries have so far been covered under the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana in 2023–2024.

The program’s goal is to educate and support girls who are dropping out for various reasons. Over 7 lakh 28 thousand girls and teenage females benefited in 2022–2023.

Under the Savitri Bai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana, there has been a modification of rules for individuals whose first two children are females.

According to Kripanand Jha, 6850 of the state’s 37,432 Anganwadi centers would be converted into competent Anganwadi centers.

In addition, around 29,000 maids will receive smartphones. He said that the agency intends to use DMFT/CSR funds to develop facilities for over 10,000 Anganwadi centers. The centers would have amenities like water purifiers, smart TVs, and LPG cylinders, among others.

A provision for an honorarium increase was provided.

The Secretary stated that the remuneration for Anganwadi maids is Rs 9500 per month, while that of helpers is Rs 4750 per month. In addition, it is planned to raise the honorarium by Rs 500 and Rs 250 year, respectively. The new retirement age for helpers and maids is sixty-two years old. The department works to improve the efficiency of the services offered in the centers in addition to giving amenities to the maids and helpers.

2 lakh for the remarriage of a widow

The government’s program to provide maternity kits has begun. In addition, sanitary napkins will be given out. Additionally, the agency is doing better in terms of women’s welfare. The government would pay a pecuniary sum of Rs 2 lakh to widows who remarry inside the state. Additionally, 11,880 females were given financial support for marriage during the current fiscal year. In order to help the state’s six lakh pregnant women, steps are being planned to launch the program shortly.

Child welfare is the subject of several projects.

According to the Secretary, sponsorship for each kid under the child welfare programme is given at a rate of Rs 4,000 in order to safeguard and care for children who are living in unfavorable circumstances. 4,497 youngsters have received this benefit up to this point.

The Juvenile Justice Board, which was established to handle cases involving minors who have broken the law, has been expanded to 26 members in order to properly and quickly handle these matters.

A 50-bed sanitary facility for kids in legal trouble is supposed to be built in the Ranchi area for a cost of Rs. 1107.23 lakh. This entails the construction of three such facilities, an old age home and a children’s home on the same campus, in the districts of Dumka, Palamu, and Latehar.

Action is being taken by the department to fill 444 open positions for women supervisors and 64 open positions for the Child Development Project. The JPSC and JSSC will be consulted in order to fill these open positions.
