Mumbai: A big news is flashing on TV screens. Only days before Sunday’s Lok Sabha elections, the Congress experienced a significant setback. Veteran politician and former Union minister Milind Deora resigned from Congress as a main member.

Providing this information, Mr. Deora wrote on ‘X’, saying, “Today is the last day of a significant chapter in my political career.” I have given up my primary congressional membership.

My family’s 55-year history with the party has come to an end with this. I am appreciative to all the supervisors, coworkers, and employees for their steadfast support throughout the years.”

Meanwhile, Congress communication department in-charge Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “I miss my years of association with Murli Deora. Despite having strong relationships in every political party, he was a devoted congressman who always supported the Congress Party through good times and bad.”

Mr. Deora is the son of senior Congress lawmaker Murli Deora. Prior to that, he had won twice. Arvind Sawant of the Shiv Sena has defeated him in the last two Lok Sabha elections.

The prospect of the Shiv Sena, led by Uddhav Thackeray, gaining the Mumbai South seat in the seat-sharing agreement infuriated India.

It’s known that he could join the Shiv Sena group led by Eknath Shinde.
