Tatanagar Revamp: Major Road Closures and Flyover Plans

Jamshedpur’s Tatanagar Station Expansion Triggers Road Closures, Flyover Plans

Jamshedpur’s Tatanagar Railway Station area will undergo significant changes, including road closures and new infrastructure development for improved connectivity.

JAMSHEDPUR – A major transformation is unfolding near Tatanagar Railway Station in Jamshedpur.

The railway administration has confirmed the closure of the main road from the Railway SP office to Karandih via Chaibasa stand.

This development is part of a larger plan to expand the Tatanagar Railway Station complex.

In light of the road closure, the railway authorities are considering two main alternative route options.

A new flyover, starting at Sankata Singh Petrol Pump in Jugsalai and extending to Karandih, is under consideration.

Simultaneously, other road-based solutions are being evaluated.

To facilitate this expansive project, railway employees residing in quarters up to Bagbera and Karandih have been instructed to vacate.

Another noteworthy development is the construction of a connecting road from the railway overbridge behind Jugsalai Dukhu Market to the Tata Pigment Gate roundabout.

These initiatives are part of three distinct plans approved by Chakradharpur DRM Arun J Rathore.

According to media reports, plan 1 entails building a flyover from Jugsalai Sankata Singh Patrol to Karandih Chowk, passing behind the former Purana Singh Hotel.

This project involves clearing illegal structures in Gudri Bazaar and surrounding areas to establish a direct route to Khasmahal and Karandih Chowk.

Reports say plan 2 focuses on constructing a four-lane road from Karandih Sadar Hospital to Sankata Singh Petrol Pump, passing behind the now-demolished Singh Hotel and Kendriya Vidyalaya.

An additional route option from behind Railway Hospital, after Sadar Hospital, is also under exploration.

Plan 3 proposes the removal of encroachments alongside the railway line in Jugsalai.

This would pave the way for a direct road to Jugsalai Tata Pigment Roundabout, enhancing accessibility for Jugsalai residents and ensuring better road maintenance by Tata Pigment.

Officials are actively working on a plan to build a flyover near Sankata Singh Petrol Pump and improve roadway accessibility.

As the Tatanagar station area expands to encompass the main road, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared to establish an alternative route.
