RANCHI – A recent theft at the Ram Janaki Temple in Bariatu, Ranchi, was captured on CCTV, raising concerns about security in religious places.

Temple priest Pandit Ramdev Pandey reported the theft to the police, who began investigating using CCTV footage from the temple and surrounding areas.

The footage shows a suspicious individual near the temple, prompting police to intensify efforts to identify the thief.

The incident adds to a growing number of thefts in the city, causing alarm among residents.

Local authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and assist in security measures.

Pandit Baba Ramdev has called for increased patrolling around religious sites and the swift arrest of the culprit.

City SP Rajkumar, MP Sanjay Seth, and Kanke MLA Samri Lal have publicly committed to replacing the stolen statues.

The theft resulted in significant damage, with nine statues vandalized and silver crowns stolen from seven, sparking widespread outrage.

Baba Ramdev has vowed to keep the new idols in the temple permanently once they are installed and consecrated.
