JAMSHEDPUR -Tata Steel has been recognized as one of the ‘Top 50 Innovative Companies of the Year’ by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) during the CII ‘Technology Conclave and Innovation Awards,’ 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges Tata Steel’s commitment to pioneering new processes, products, services, and technologies.

The recognition underlines the Company’s efforts in driving substantial growth and introducing radical changes within the industry. Dr. Debashish Bhattacharjee, Vice President of Technology and R&D at Tata Steel, expressed honor at receiving this accolade, signifying Tata Steel’s resolve in addressing industry challenges and propelling innovation.

The award highlights the company’s focus on fostering an innovation-centric culture and implementing effective management systems. Tata Steel’s recent groundbreaking pilot trial of hydrogen injection in blast furnaces, which significantly reduced CO2 emissions, was a key factor in securing this award. This trial demonstrated a potential reduction of around 7-10% in CO2 emissions per ton of crude steel produced, aligning with global environmental sustainability goals. Tata Steel’s continuous investment in innovation aims to develop new technologies indigenously, supporting its long-term vision of self-reliance and a sustainable future. This recognition from CII not only showcases Tata Steel’s innovative capabilities but also reinforces its position as a leader in the industry, committed to technological advancements and sustainable practices.
