Tata Motors Jamshedpur Plant Implements Block Closure
Tata Motors’ Strategic Closure in Jamshedpur for Five Days
Tata Motors’ Jamshedpur facility undergoes a strategic five-day block closure, set to resume operations on January 2, 2024, as part of a planned operational adjustment.
JAMSHEDPUR -In a strategic move, Tata Motors has initiated a five-day block closure at its Jamshedpur plant, starting from December 28.
This decision, aligning with the agreement dated July 31, 2017, marks the third block closure this month for the plant.
Plant Head Ravindra Kulkarni communicated this through a circular, also noting an extra holiday on January 1, 2024.
Employees are expected to make up for the closure days at later dates, considering December 31, 2023, falls on a regular weekly off.
Operations at Tata Motors’ Jamshedpur facility are slated to restart on January 2, 2024.
The closure period will see a policy deduction involving 50% of company leave and 50% of employee leave, impacting the salary of employees with exhausted Privilege Leave (PL) or Casual Leave (CL).
Employees called in for duty during this period are required to comply, with absences leading to a deduction of a full day’s salary.
Six employees, in particular, will face the financial impact of receiving no salary during this block closure.
This operational strategy by Tata Motors is expected to have ripple effects, influencing production dynamics within the company and its interconnected supply chain.
