Jharkhand: Kanke Region Records 2.7°C Temperature Drop

Cold Wave Hits Kanke, Near Ranchi; Temperature at 3.5°C

Kanke region near Ranchi faces a significant temperature drop to 3.5°C, affecting local lives and increasing hardships for the impoverished.

RANCHI – In the Kanke region, close to Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, a notable drop in temperature has been recorded, with a decrease of 2.7 degrees.

As of December 27, 2023, the temperature stands at a chilly 3.5 degrees Celsius, coupled with a wind speed of 1.4 kilometers per hour.

This drop in temperature has exacerbated the plight of the impoverished in the area.

Residents are resorting to heaters and bonfires to combat the cold, with many only venturing out for essential activities.

The severe cold is particularly challenging for the underprivileged and those living on the streets.

Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Chairman of the Department of Agricultural Physics and Environmental Science at Birsa Agricultural University, states that such a drop in temperature is typical for this time of year.

He anticipates a further decline in the coming days.

Notably, the Kanke region often experiences colder temperatures than Ranchi, usually by a margin of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

With the ongoing cold wave, residents are advised to dress warmly and take precautions, especially for the elderly and children.

Elderly individuals have been advised to avoid morning walks, and children should be adequately covered to protect against the cold.
