Corona ebbing in Jamshedpur, indications good: Dr. Rajan Chaudhry

Jamshedpur: Corona numbers are sliding down in Jamshedpur and the virus is slowly ebbing as there are noticeable improvements on all fronts.

The Advisor, Medical Services, Tata Steel Dr. Rajan Chaudhry today sounded positive while giving corona-related numbers for TMH to the mediapersons in a teleconference. He was accompanied with Kulwin Suri, Chief, Corporate Communications, Tata Steel and Runa Rajeev Kumar, Head, Corporate Communications, Tata Steel.

Dr. Rajan Chaudhry said that corona has left its peak behind in the city as numbers are showing improvement. He said that the recovery rate in TMH was 83.16% last week, while it has gone up to 84.17% this week.

He said that TMH has handled 3,684 positive cases till date. The new admissions numbers too are improving. Last week 169 corona positive patients were admitted, while for this week this number is only 150.

Similarly, discharge numbers too have come down as the ingress of patients has decreased. Last week 179 corona patients were discharged, while this week only 164 have been discharged.

He said that the number of deaths too is decreasing. Last week 21 patients had died of corona, while this week only 10 persons have died in TMH in last 6 days. He said that 66 patients of above 80 years of age have also been cured and discharged and this is extremely positive data.

He also said that till date, TMH has conducted 57,746 tests. RT PCR test positivity has come down to 6.39% from a level of 30 a few weeks back. Even last week the positivity rate was 9.69%. He said that if the positivity rate comes down below 5%, that would indicate that corona is in its last stage in phase I.

Dr. Chaudhry said that TMH is already readying itself for the second wave of infections. Besides, it has also launched a post-covid clinic. Till date, this clinic has treated 19 patients. This clinic is attending to people of all ages who have breathing difficulties and have other problems like pain in hand and body etc.

He said that as per the guidelines of the Jharkhand government, preventive medicines are being given to health workers. Similarly, new medicines are also being given to those who are being kept on home isolation.

He added that TMH has 411 beds, out of which 54 have ventilators. He said that an arrangement is being made to supply oxygen directly to the bed.
