Jamshedpur’s TSAF Academy Wins 22 Medals, East Zone Champions at National Climbing
TSAF athletes from Jamshedpur win big at the 27th National Sport Climbing Championship, claiming 22 medals, including 11 Golds, and leading East Zone to victory.
JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur’s Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) Sport Climbing Academy showcased an impressive performance at the 27th National Sport Climbing Championship, hosted in Bangalore.
Athletes from TSAF dominated the event, winning a remarkable 22 medals across various categories.
Their achievement included 11 Gold, 7 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals.
This significant haul contributed to the East Zone being named the overall national champions.
Remarkably, all of East Zone’s medals were won by TSAF athletes.
The academy’s athletes, representing the East Zone, amassed a total of 51 points.
Their score surpassed competitors from six other zones, including West, South, North, Northeast, Services, and Police Zones.
The championship saw a total participation of 160 athletes from across India, with TSAF contributing 26 climbers to this national event.
Notable performances from TSAF athletes included Joga Purty, who clinched three Gold medals across Lead, Bouldering, and Speed in the Junior Girls Category.
Savitri Samad, starting her climbing journey from Pipla Masti Ki Pathshala, bagged two Gold medals in Lead and Bouldering and a Silver in Speed in the Sub-Junior Girls Category.
Anisha Verma secured two Golds and a Silver in the Women’s category, excelling in Lead, Bouldering, and Speed.
Rajesh Honhoga, another talent from Rajnagar Masti Ki Pathshala, won two Golds in Bouldering and a Silver in Speed in the Sub-Junior Boys category.
Ronit Bandra and Amar Khandwal also made significant contributions, securing Silver and Bronze medals respectively in their categories.
The TSAF Sport Climbing Academy, supported by Tata Steel Foundation and JCAPCPL, has become a nurturing ground for emerging climbing talents in India.
Their success at the National Sport Climbing Championship highlights the academy’s role in promoting and developing the sport at a national level.
