Bhullar Clinches Victory in TATA Steel Tour Championship 2023
Gaganjeet Bhullar secures a win at the TATA Steel PGTI Tour Championship 2023 in Jamshedpur.
JAMSHEDPUR – Gaganjeet Bhullar, the pre-tournament favorite, emerged victorious at the TATA Steel PGTI’s season-ending Tour Championship 2023.
Held at Jamshedpur’s Beldih and Golmuri Golf Courses, Bhullar won by a single shot with a six-under 66 in the final round.
His total of 25-under 263 set a new record for the lowest winning total at this championship.
Rahil Gangjee finished as the runner-up, scoring 24-under 264, after a final round of 67.
Angad Cheema from Chandigarh claimed third place with a score of 23-under 265.
Mhow’s Om Prakash Chouhan secured the No. 1 spot in the TATA Steel PGTI Ranking, ending the season with record earnings.
Chouhan’s performance in the season included four titles and eight top-10 finishes.
Aman Raj of Patna finished second in the PGTI Ranking with season earnings of INR 91,90,745.
The event featured a unique format with alternating courses for each half of the field.
Bhullar led from the first round, showcasing consistent skill and focus throughout the tournament.
His final round included an eagle and four birdies, highlighting his precision and control.
Rahil Gangjee’s early lead was overturned by Bhullar’s solid performance in the final stretch.
Yuvraj Singh Sandhu posted the day’s best score of nine-under 63, securing fourth place.
Jamshedpur’s own Karan Taunk and Kurush Heerjee finished tied 61st and 72nd, respectively.
Varun Chopra of the United States was named the PGTI Emerging Player of the Year.
The TATA Steel PGTI Tour Championship marked a significant close to the season, showcasing the depth of talent in Indian golf.
