Jharkhand Chills as North India’s Cold Winds Intensify

Ranchi Temperature Drops, Cold Wave Grips Jharkhand

Meteorologist predicts further dip in Jharkhand’s temperatures amid North India’s cold wave.

RANCHI – Jharkhand is experiencing a significant drop in temperature due to the cold winds blowing across North India.

Ranchi, the state capital, has witnessed a notable decrease in its minimum temperature, which fell by 1.2 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.

On Wednesday, Ranchi’s minimum temperature was recorded at 10.2 degrees Celsius, while Thursday saw a further dip to 9 degrees Celsius.

In contrast, Kanke experienced a slight increase in its minimum temperature, rising by 1.4 degrees Celsius from 5.0 degrees Celsius on Wednesday to 6.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

Meteorologist Abhishek Anand predicts a further decline in the minimum temperatures across the state.

Garhwa’s temperature on Thursday was noted at 7.8 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department forecasts morning fog and mist, followed by clear skies and dry weather during the day, with temperatures dropping as evening approaches.

Anand noted that rural areas, especially forest regions, plains, and areas near water bodies, are likely to experience more severe cold compared to urban areas.

Currently, Jharkhand’s minimum temperature ranges between 9 to 11 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature varies from 22 to 28 degrees Celsius.

Weather experts attribute the cold conditions in Jharkhand to heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and cold winds from the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, suggesting a possible intense cold wave in the state.
