Monsoon Activity Intensifies Across Jharkhand

Heavy rainfall forecast for Sunday, orange alert issued for multiple districts

Jharkhand braces for significant monsoon activity as meteorological department issues orange alert for numerous districts, with Latehar recording 71 mm rainfall on Saturday and more intense showers predicted for Sunday.

RANCHI – Jharkhand, including the Kolhan region, experienced scattered showers on Saturday, with more intense rainfall predicted for the coming days.

Jamshedpur and surrounding areas recorded light rain in the afternoon.

Latehar district received the highest rainfall at 71 mm on Saturday.

Saraikela recorded the highest temperature in the state at 37.5°C.

Jamshedpur’s temperature readings:

– Maximum: 35.6°C

– Minimum: 26.3°C

Other notable temperature recordings:

– West Singhbhum: 36.2°C

– Ranchi: 31.5°C

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Sunday, warning of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across much of the state.

Districts under orange alert include:

Gumla, Palamu, Chatra, Koderma, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Sahebganj, Pakur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ranchi, Latehar, Khunti, Simdega, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan.

"We expect significant rainfall activity accompanied by thunderstorms in these regions," a meteorological official stated.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on weather alerts.

The intensified monsoon is likely to bring relief from the recent humidity but may also pose challenges in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging.

Agricultural experts view this rainfall as beneficial for crops, particularly in regions that have experienced rainfall deficits.

Local authorities are on alert to respond to any weather-related emergencies that may arise due to the heavy rainfall forecast.
