Kunal Sarangi Advocates for East Singhbhum Farmers’ Rights

BJP Spokesperson Meets Chief Secretary for Farmers’ Issues Resolution

Former MLA and BJP state spokesperson Kunal Sarangi meets State Chief Secretary for urgent resolution of East Singhbhum farmers’ issues, including crop insurance and paddy purchase payments.

JAMSHEDPUR – Former Baharagora MLA and Jharkhand state BJP spokesperson Kunal Sarangi met with State Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh in Ranchi on Tuesday to address critical issues in East Singhbhum district.

Sarangi highlighted the plight of local farmers awaiting crop insurance payouts and delayed payments for paddy sold under the LAMPS scheme.

He emphasized the distress of farmers in Purvi Singhbhum and the plight of six workers from Dumaria who were stranded for 17 days in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi Silkyara Tunnel.

Sarangi advocated for economic packages and local employment opportunities for the returned workers, aligning with measures in neighboring states.

Additionally, he urged for the repair of the deteriorating Keola to Kami road in Baharagora and the commencement of the tender process for the Motel Chowk to Pathra road.

He also demanded the establishment of an agricultural research center on 25 acres of state-owned land in Baharagora, currently under illegal encroachment.

Chief Secretary Singh, after discussing with Agriculture Secretary Abu Bakar Siddiqui, confirmed a pending verification report for crop harvesting in East Singhbhum, delaying the insurance payouts.

Singh instructed the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner to expedite the report submission, ensuring timely crop insurance payments to the farmers.

He assured that the Rs 14 crore payment for the paddy purchased through LAMPS would be released within a week.

Singh also committed to reviewing and addressing the issues of the 15 state workers, including those from Dumariya, and promised swift action on Baharagora’s infrastructural concerns.
