208-Crore Tender Floated for Jamshedpur's New Interstate Bus Stand

Jharkhand Urban Development Company Reissues Tender for Modern Bus Facility in Mango

Jamshedpur’s ambitious interstate bus stand project sees renewed momentum with a Rs 208 crore tender issued by JUDCO. Deadline for applications is December 26th.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand Urban Development Company (JUDCO) has reinvigorated efforts to construct a state-of-the-art interstate bus stand in Mango, Jamshedpur, by issuing a new tender valued at Rs 208 crore.

Earlier attempts to initiate this project in April faced setbacks as no applications were received for the same amount.

The proposed facility, strategically located near Vasundhara Estate between Dimna Chowk and Pardih Chowk on the Tata-Ranchi National Highway-33, is envisaged as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Contractors are encouraged to submit their applications from December 4th, with the process closing on December 26th.

The notice specifies that the technical bid will open on December 27th and emphasizes the requirement for e-tender submissions.

The bus stand, planned over 13.7 acres, currently has about 10 acres transferred to the district administration from the Swarnarekha Multipurpose Project.

The Urban Development Department is expediting the project, which has been a consistent feature in the Hemant government’s budgets.

Once completed, this modern facility will offer a range of amenities including ticket offices, waiting rooms, an air-conditioned dormitory, a canteen, and even shopping mall provisions.

Designed to be a multi-storey complex, it will accommodate 24 buses simultaneously on its platform and provide parking for approximately 200 buses.

Reflecting on past efforts, a Rs 150 crore tender was issued last year for the project.

This followed the Jharkhand government’s decision to erect interstate bus stands in Ranchi and Dhanbad, with Karnataka-based Idec appointed as the consulting firm.

However, progress in Jamshedpur was delayed due to incomplete land transfer processes.

The new interstate bus terminus (ISBT) on the identified land along NH-33 aims to be a G+ five or G+ six storey building, signifying a significant investment in the region’s transport infrastructure.
