Tata Steel’s LGBT+ Inclusion Efforts Win Third Consecutive IWEI Gold Award

Tata Steel secures its third consecutive Gold Employer status in the IWEI 2023, reinforcing its commitment to LGBT+ inclusivity in the workplace.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s unwavering dedication to LGBT+ inclusivity has been recognized once again, earning it the prestigious Gold Employer title from the India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) 2023.

This marks Tata Steel’s third consecutive year of being honored with this accolade, reflecting its consistent efforts in promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Atrayee Sanyal, the Vice President of Human Resource Management at Tata Steel, emphasized the significance of this achievement.

Sanyal highlighted that this recognition reinforces their commitment to maintaining an inclusive environment where every individual, irrespective of their sexual orientation or gender identity, is valued and respected.

Tata Steel’s journey towards an inclusive workplace is evident in its comprehensive HR policies, practices, and organizational culture.

The Company has implemented measures such as offering LGBT+ couples a range of benefits, including honeymoon packages, gender transition support, and gender-neutral parenting leaves.

Furthermore, Tata Steel actively supports LGBT+ employee resource groups (ERGs) and engages in inclusive recruitment practices.

To foster a culture of acceptance and understanding, the Company has launched various outreach, community, and collaboration programs.

The IWEI, India’s first extensive benchmarking tool for evaluating LGBT+ workplace inclusion, assesses various criteria including policies, benefits, employee lifecycle, and community engagement.

In its fourth annual assessment, IWEI evaluated 120 organizations, awarding Gold status to 35 employers, Silver to 29, and Bronze to 32.
