48 Tribal Musicians Enthrall Audience on Day 3 of Samvaad at Gopal Maidan

Samvaad 2023’s Day 3 sees the unveiling of a unique tribal clock and performances by 48 musicians from 11 tribes, blending tradition and innovation in Jamshedpur.

JAMSHEDPUR – Samvaad 2023, Tata Steel Foundation’s prominent platform for tribal identity, celebrated its third day with a fusion of music, culture, and intellectual discourse in Jamshedpur.

The day was marked by the debut of ‘Rhythms of the Earth’ (ROTE), a collective of 48 musicians from 11 Indian tribes, alongside Da Shugs, Ladakh’s first Indigenous band.

This musical ensemble captivated the audience with their original compositions, a culmination of a 10-day creative residency at the Tribal Culture Centre in Sonari.

Samvaad’s third day also witnessed the unveiling of a counterclockwise tribal clock at Jamshedpur Natural Trail, symbolizing the tribal communities’ deep connection with nature.

Designed by artisans of Navjeevan Cooperative group and supported technically by Titan, the clock represents a unique perspective aligned with nature’s motion.

Sourav Roy, CEO of Tata Steel Foundation, emphasized the significance of Samvaad as a platform for dialogue and cultural exchange, highlighting the tribal clock and ROTE’s performance as key elements.

The event has already attracted over 6,000 attendees in two days, immersing them in tribal traditions, wisdom, and cuisine at Gopal Maidan.

An array of sessions and workshops, including discussions on tribal healing practices, leadership, and the contemporization of tribal art, further enriched the day’s proceedings.

Tata Steel Foundation’s IT team introduced innovative solutions like the On Spot Safety Software and an AI-powered food coupon system, enhancing operational efficiency and safety.

With 164 healers from 20 tribes, 110 artisans showcasing 28 art forms, and the integration of technology, Samvaad 2023 stands as a testament to the vibrant and evolving nature of tribal culture and heritage.
