RANCHI – In a display of interstate cooperation, the Jharkhand government is dispatching a special three-member delegation to Uttarakhand.

Their mission is to assist in the ongoing rescue efforts following a catastrophic tunnel collapse in Uttarkashi district..

This collapse trapped about 40 workers, including Jharkhand natives, under the debris.

The delegation’s arrival is timely, as rescuers in Uttarakhand have made significant progress.

They have established contact with the trapped workers and provided essential supplies like food and water.

These efforts are being coordinated by the Silkyara police control room, employing walkie-talkies for communication.

Rescue teams are currently drilling through the debris to create an escape route.

The tunnel is a crucial part of the Char Dham all-weather road project and its collapse occurred on Sunday morning.

The trapped workers hail from various states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, and Himachal Pradesh.

Over 160 personnel from the NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, and BRO are relentlessly working to rescue the trapped laborers.

Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed optimism about the successful rescue of all trapped individuals.

Officials said that the delegation is being sent to ensure that all help is extended in the rescue of workers, including those from Jharkhand.
