SUCI Protest at Potka Block Office Demands Wide-ranging Solutions
Socialist Unity Center of India (Communist) Leads Rally Demanding Amenities, Fair Wages, and Infrastructure in Potka
In a spirited protest at Potka block office, protestors demand 12-point agenda including better wages, healthcare, and infrastructure. District authorities under pressure.
JAMSHEDPUR – A robust protest took place in front of the Potka block office on Friday, led by the Socialist Unity Center of India (Communist) Party.
The demonstration saw a large turnout, including farmers, laborers, and women.
Protesters began their march from Potka Middle School, holding placards and banners, and shouting slogans before reaching the block office.
Following the demonstration, a 12-point demand letter was submitted to Block Development Officer (Female) BDO Abhay Kumar Duvedi.
The demands outlined in the letter are comprehensive, covering everything from regular and full monthly ration for cardholders to the waiver of electricity bills for 2022.
Among the demands are interest-free loans for farmers, daily wages of ₹500 and 200 days of employment under MNREGA, and a minimum paddy price of ₹3000.
The protesters also called for improved healthcare services, the appointment of adequate teachers, and immediate action against efforts to displace tribals from their land.
Specific demands for infrastructure improvements were also included, such as the widening of approximately 8 km of road from Manpur to Devli Chowk Bhaya Tilaijhor, Digarasai, Chhota.
Present at the protest were District Secretary of the organization Sumit Rai, Dhiren Bhakat, Sonka Mahato, Devendra Mahato, Ambika Mahato, Bijan Sardar, Swapan Bhakat, Shatrughan Das, Nunaram Rajak, Karan Hembram, Baldev Munda, Sadanand Das, Narayan Bhakat, Anand Dhal, among others.
