Jharkhand High Court Orders CBI Probe into Illegal Mining

Nimbu Pahad in Sahibganj to Undergo Scrutiny after PIL by Vijay Hansda

High Court’s directive for CBI inquiry in mining issue highlights local conflict, power plays

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand High Court ordered a CBI investigation into alleged unlawful mining in Nimbu Pahad, Sahibganj.

This decision comes after a PIL by Vijay Hansda, who requested a CBI investigation into illegal mining in the region.

Pankaj Mishra, representing Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is accused of having threatened to stop mining.

Considering all facts, the Court denied Hansda’s request to withdraw the PIL.

Hansda is a key witness in the Enforcement Directorate’s money laundering investigation.

In a related matter, Hansda claimed that he attempted to file an FIR against Mishra, but local law enforcement had allegedly declined the request.

Following this, Hansda filed a complaint with the court, highlighting the complexities in the mining case.
