Late-night snatching incidents shock Bistupur as two women are robbed within half an hour near the police station; police investigation underway.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a concerning development near the Bistupur police station, two women fell victim to snatching incidents on Thursday late at night, with both occurrences taking place within intervals of a half-hour.
In the second incident, which occurred near the Hyundai store in Bistupur, Shweta Dubey, a resident of Jugsalai who works in HDFC Bank’s lending division, had her purse stolen.
After completing her work, she was returning home when a bike rider took her purse from behind, containing a cell phone, an HDFC Bank ID card, and Rs 22,000 intended for collection.
This incident followed another occurrence earlier that night, near the Mani Mela ground in the Bistupur police station area.
During a stroll in the vicinity of the Mani Mela at about 7 o’clock, Priya Das, a local of the Contractor Area, was targeted by bike-borne criminals who had been following her for some time.
They managed to snatch her purse from behind, containing several documents and 800 rupees in cash, resulting in hand injuries for Priya.
These back-to-back incidents have raised concerns about the safety of residents, particularly women, in the area.
The police are investigating the crimes for now.
