108 ambulance drivers in Jamshedpur protest due to non-payment of wages for five months, with the situation gaining political attention.

JAMSHEDPUR – Ambulance drivers in Jamshedpur continued their strike and protest even on Tuesday. They have obstructed the wheels of ambulances to protest the non-payment of wages for five months.

The situation reached a boiling point on Tuesday when BJP leader Vikas Singh arrived to lend his support to the dharna held at the Jamshedpur Deputy Commissioner’s office.

He asked the ambulance drivers about their condition, and they informed him of their distress.

They explained that they had not received their pay for the last five months.

Due to non-payment, their children have been removed from school.

Families of the drivers are struggling, unable to get meals at home both times.

Additionally, they are unable to purchase medications for ill family members at home.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, each of these drivers took their own lives into their own hands to fulfill their duty, transporting patients from remote areas to hospitals.

Working a 24-hour shift, they have been on call to transport patients to hospitals at any hour.

If the situation does not improve at the local hospital, they transfer patients to RIMS.

Despite their dedicated service, they have not been paid for the last five months.

When questioned by Vikas Singh if they had reported the situation, they informed him that despite several complaints even to the Health Minister Banna Gupta, no one has paid attention to their pleas.
