Starting with the community hospital, Bhajantri personally visited each ward, inquiring from patients and staff about the quality of medical services being provided and regularity of doctor’s visits.
The inspection led to the discovery of an unattended quarter which was supposed to be occupied by a doctor.
On questioning Dr. Rituraj, who was present on site, Bhajantri found several doctors missing without any formal leave applications.
These doctors, namely Drs. Utpal Murmu, Gopinath Mahali, Neha Kumari, Sangeeta Kerketta, Suparna Nayak, and Archana Sinha, were instructed to provide a formal justification to the Civil Surgeon for their unapproved absences.
Simultaneously, it was revealed that another doctor had been assigned to the Shravani Mela.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the newly constructed BDO and CO residence, noticing some incomplete work and questioning the engineer of the special work division about the delay.
His inspection extended to the local police station where he discussed various crime scenarios and law and order situations with the station in-charge and the SDPO, focusing on crimes involving the SC ST Act, dacoity, extortion, and murder.
Post Baharagora block, Bhajantri visited the Ghatshila Sub Divisional Hospital, emphasizing on the importance of a functional trauma center for public benefit.
A special focus was laid on the on-site malnutrition treatment center where he inquired from mothers about the amenities, the improvement of malnourished children’s health, the regularity of nutrition supply and even scrutinized the menu.
