Jamshedpur Women’s Cricket Tournament Stalled by Severe Weather
Unfortunate weather interrupts Jamshedpur’s women’s tennis ball cricket, aimed at fostering rural and Mango area participation.
JAMSHEDPUR – Unexpected weather conditions resulted in an unwelcome halt to the ongoing women’s tennis ball cricket tournament in Jamshedpur on Wednesday. Initially scheduled to conclude on October 8, the tournament hosted at Godgowda Maidan on NH-33 was compelled to a standstill, with no matches reaching completion.
Ajay Das, a key member of the tournament’s organising committee and a devoted cricket coach for 13 years at the Convent School, highlighted the competition’s objective – to spur cricket involvement among females from the rural and Mango regions.
In line with this vision, Das indicated that based on the performance in the tournament, promising female players will be handpicked and provided with free cricket training. This way, the tournament aims not only at finding hidden cricketing talents but also fostering the sporting spirit among rural and Mango region’s females. However, for now, the tournament awaits clear skies to continue its mission.
