Jamshedpur’s Intermediate Stream Admissions Reveal College Preference Trends

In Jamshedpur, city colleges see a surge in applications for intermediate stream admissions, while the Jamshedpur Workers College experiences a drop.

JAMSHEDPUR – Admissions this year have been affected at the Jamshedpur Workers College.

The majority of students opted for immediate enrollment at nearby linked institutions, leading to a direct impact on the admissions to this college.

This situation, according to the college’s principal Dr. SP Mahalik, arose primarily due to a delay in the admission process.

To date, around 350 students have been enrolled at this institution, a relatively small number considering the previous application rates.

Contrastingly, the city’s other colleges have received about 1.5 to 2 times more applications than the number of seats available.

Jamshedpur Co-operative College, for example, despite having a rule to fill just 10% of the 1064 available seats, has seen an influx of over 1600 applications.

This year, it was noted that a significant number of students waited to apply for intermediate admissions to city colleges even after results were announced.

However, the typically high number of students from both city and countryside applying to Jamshedpur Workers College in Mango has seen a decline.

Currently, in response to a state government directive, the city’s constituent institutions are opening their doors to students seeking admissions in all three intermediate streams—Science, Commerce, and Arts.
