Engineering College Admissions Delayed in Jharkhand

State lags behind as national institutions begin enrollment process

JCECEB struggles to find agency for conducting counseling sessions

RANCHI – The admission process for engineering colleges in Jharkhand has hit a roadblock, even as institutions across India have begun enrolling students.

The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB), tasked with overseeing admissions to state-run engineering colleges, has yet to start counseling sessions for prospective students.

"We’re working to finalize an agency to conduct the counseling process," a JCECEB official stated. "We’ve issued tenders twice but haven’t found a suitable partner yet."

This delay is causing concern among students who completed their registration by June 24 as instructed.

"I’m worried about losing opportunities in other states if Jharkhand’s process doesn’t start soon," said Amit Kumar, an aspiring engineering student from Jamshedpur.

National Admissions in Full Swing

While Jharkhand grapples with delays:

– The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is in its final counseling phase for IITs and NITs

– Several other states have begun their admission processes

Key Dates for Jharkhand

– July 2: Deadline for selecting counseling agency (second tender)

– July 2: Release of state merit list based on JEE Mains results

Available Seats in Jharkhand

The state offers 5,496 seats across 16 engineering colleges, including:

– BIT Sindri: 680 seats

– CIT Tatisilwai (Ranchi): 390 seats

– Government Engineering College Palamu: 300 seats

Dumka Engineering College: 338 state quota seats (out of 450)

Students and parents are urging the JCECEB to expedite the process to prevent a potential exodus of talent from the state.
