DESK – The much-anticipated trailer of Bollywood movie Ajmer 92 has been unveiled.

The film throws light on the real-life horrifying Ajmer gangrape case of 1992, shocking viewers with its raw and powerful storytelling.

Shedding Light on a Dark History

The trailer reveals an intense plot, focusing on the ruthless abuse of dozens of young girls by Farooq and Nafis Chishty and their friends.

The Chishtys, tied to the famous Ajmer Sharif Dargah, exploited their social and financial influence to intimidate the survivors and keep their monstrous acts hidden.

A Tale of Horrific Crimes

The men assaulted their victims, took their pictures, and used these images to blackmail them into silence.

Their crimes remained concealed until local journalist Santosh Gupta broke the story in April 1992, shaking the city of Ajmer to its core.

Outcry and Trials

Ajmer erupted in protests after the case was exposed, and the situation nearly escalated into a communal issue due to the religious backgrounds of the victims and perpetrators.

Eighteen men, some connected to the Dargah, were charged, triggering a series of challenging and lengthy trials.

Delivering Verdicts and Pursuit of Closure

In 1998, eight of the accused, including Farooq, received life sentences.

The Supreme Court later reduced the sentences of four convicts to 10 years, while six remain on trial.

A red corner notice has been issued against absconding accused Almas Maharaj.

Creating a Platform for Women Empowerment

Ajmer 92 aims to amplify the fight for justice and women empowerment through its powerful narrative.

The director, Pushpendra Singh, emphasizes the delicate handling of the subject, while star Karan Verma refers to the role as a transformative experience.
