Jamshedpur FC Welcomes Scott Cooper as New Head Coach for 2023-24 Season
Internationally acclaimed manager Scott Cooper joins Jamshedpur FC as Head Coach, carrying a promising record of success in Southeast Asia.
JAMSHEDPUR – Internationally celebrated manager Scott Cooper is set to head Jamshedpur FC as the new coach for the 2023-24 season.
Carrying a proven record of success in Southeast Asia, the 52-year-old has managed clubs such as Buriram United, Muangthong United, Ubon UMT United, Police Tero, and most recently, Port FC.
Cooper made his mark at Thai club Buriram United, where he led the team to the AFC Champions League quarterfinals, achieving an Asia ranking of 7.
This success broke a 15-year drought for Thai teams in the competition.
Furthermore, under Cooper’s leadership, 19 players flourished into senior national team players in Thailand, emphasizing his remarkable ability to nurture and enhance young talents.
On joining Jamshedpur FC, Cooper expressed his honor and excitement, “The club has previously won the ISL Shield trophy and I believe it’s time for us to get back to the top once again,” he said.
Boasting over 20 years of coaching experience, Cooper’s career has seen him rise from Chester City to managing the U15 team for former English Premier League Champions Leicester City in 2011.
He views the city of Jamshedpur’s rich footballing history and the prestigious Tata Football Academy (TFA) as potential grounds for nurturing top Indian footballers.
In 2018, as the Philippines Head Coach, he led the Azkals to their highest FIFA World Cup qualifiers points total, securing a spot in the second round of World Cup qualification.
His attacking style and high-pressing football have been particularly admired, providing a new brand of football that holds promise for success at the Furnace.
