Sonari Police Arrest Man for Stealing Rs 12 Lakh from Tata Worker’s Home
Sonari Police arrests a man named Prem Kumar Mahto for stealing Rs 12 lakh from a Tata steel worker’s home in Pardesi Pada B block, Jamshedpur.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a significant operation, Jamshedpur’s Sonari police station has successfully cracked a theft case, arresting a young man on the night of May 30.
The arrested individual, named Prem Kumar Mahto, is reportedly a native of Bokaro.
Mahto is alleged to have stolen Rs 12 lakh in cash, stowed away in an almirah, from the residence of a Tata steel worker in Pardesi Pada B block.
Following his arrest, the police recovered Rs 3.855 lakh in cash, along with two mobiles, a bed, a dressing table, a cooler, and a table, all believed to be purchased with the stolen money.

The victim in this case, Kaushal Kumar Singh, found the money missing the day after his daughter’s wedding reception, which took place at BS Residency Bistupur.
With all family members having attended the event, the house was vacant on the day of the incident.
Upon lodging a complaint with the police and subsequent registration of the case, Mahto was nabbed by authorities leveraging technical and scientific investigation methods.
During his interrogation, Mahto confessed to his crime and divulged that apart from buying household items, the stolen money was also used for food, drinks, and repaying a loan.
