Jamshedpur DC Appeals for Lightning Safety Measures: Protect Lives, Property

Deputy Commissioner of Jamshedpur, Vijaya Jadhav, urges residents to stay clear of power lines and transformers during the rainy season, to ensure no loss of life or property due to lightning.

JAMSHEDPUR – Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav issued an appeal for the prevention of life and property loss due to lightning during the monsoon season.

DC Vijaya Jadhav emphasized the immediate notification of the executive engineers of the electricity supply divisions in Jamshedpur, Mango, and Ghatshila, in case of fallen poles or tree branches on electric wires due to heavy winds.

Precautions to Be Taken in Rainy Season

Residents are advised to steer clear from power lines, transformers, and poles during rainfall, as direct contact can lead to electrical current flowing through the body.

The Deputy Commissioner also warned against tampering with power lines or transformers and advised against standing or sitting under electric wires.

In Case of Lightning

For protection against lightning while indoors, residents should stay away from powered appliances and avoid using corded telephones.

DC Vijaya Jadhav further advised against the use of metal objects when outside and recommended seeking shelter in pucca houses or staying in vehicles during trips.

Response in Case of Lightning Strikes

In the event of a lightning strike, CPR should be administered to the affected person as necessary, along with immediate first aid.

Information about the affected person should be promptly relayed to the District Disaster Management Officer, Deputy Commissioner, or Chief Officer.
