National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur Inaugurates Long-Awaited Alumni Center
Alumni Center at NIT Jamshedpur inaugurated by Director Dr. Goutam Sutradhar and alumnus R.K. Behera, with alumni around the world virtually attending the ceremony.
Jamshedpur – The much-anticipated Alumni Center at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur was officially opened on Tuesday.
The project, initiated under the new director, Dr. Goutam Sutradhar, and inaugurated by distinguished alumnus of the 1967 batch and R.S.B. Chairman RK Behra, had been in the works since the institute’s establishment in 1960.
A large number of notable alumni from around the country and across the globe attended the inauguration ceremony via a virtual platform.
The ceremony was overseen by the institute’s director, Professor Dr. Goutam Sutradhar.
R.K. Behera, speaking as an alumnus, expressed his gratitude to all alumni whose efforts led to the establishment of the Alumni Center in the 63-year-old institution.
He lauded the office bearers of the Alumni Student Organization (Neerja), Jitendra Kumar and Chittaranjan Sahay, for recognizing his contributions with lifetime membership.
Behera underlined the significant role alumni can play in improving the institute’s national ranking, currently standing at 130th, and pledged full cooperation.
The institute director reiterated the pivotal role alumni play in the development of the institution, and how they can help elevate its status through their various influential positions in industry and academia worldwide.
Alumni such as Sanjeev Paul (Former Vice President Tata Steel), RT Singh (Former Plant Head Tata Motor), Shailesh Kumar Jha, Sharvesh Upadhyay, Bindu Srivastava, Prof. Shailendra Kumar, and the first student of the first batch Kanhaiya Lal Agarwal, among many others, enthusiastically participated in the event through virtual mediums.
