Railway Siding at Bhurkunda Station Causes Pollution, Criticized by Saryu Roy

MLA Saryu Roy criticizes railway siding at Bhurkunda Station for causing pollution, demands its closure and accountability of the authorities involved.

RANCHI – Saryu Roy, MLA, East Singhbhum, and leader of Bharatiya Jan Morcha, has voiced concern over the pollution caused by the railway siding at Bhurkunda Railway Station. He blamed the railway siding for coal dust pollution, following a surprise visit to the site after concerns were raised by local residents.

He criticized the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board for permitting the operation of the siding, which he claimed was functioning more like a coal stock yard.

Roy was shocked by the 60-70 feet high mountain of coal which was continually emitting smoke and flames, and the uncovered highway used for coal transport.

He further criticized the local authorities for not responding to multiple complaints lodged by the residents.

The MLA demanded the closure of the railway siding and strict action against those responsible for its establishment and operation, including filing a case against CCL and Railway officials.

He also called for the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Ramgarh district to be held accountable for this situation.
