Heatwave Spikes Concerns: Abhibhavak Sangh Requests Extended Vacations

The parents’ body, Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh, urges an extension of summer vacations by 12 days due to unprecedented heatwave and health risks for students.

JAMSHEDPUR – With the mercury tipping past 43 degrees Celsius, Jamshedpur is currently grappling with an extraordinary heatwave, making it the hottest city in the Kolhan region.

This escalation in temperature has prompted the Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh, a notable parents association, to call for a 12-day extension to the existing school summer vacation.

This demand, expressed through an official memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, comes in the wake of rising concerns over the potential health implications for school-going children.

As the city sweats under the blistering sun, parents fear their children returning to school could face adverse health effects.

The Meteorological Department has further aggravated these fears by advising citizens to minimize exposure to the punishing heat, reinforcing the need for this critical extension. As it stands, schools are set to open on June 12.

However, given the current circumstances, the association insists the school reopening date should be pushed back by nearly two weeks to ensure student safety.

The fervent plea of the association underscores the growing concern in a city where the rising heat is no longer merely uncomfortable, but potentially dangerous, especially for the young students.
