48-Hour Bandh Commences in Jharkhand Over 60:40 Employment Policy, Protests Erupt Across State

Protestors in Jharkhand initiate a 48-hour bandh opposing the 60:40 Employment policy, leading to mixed reactions across rural and urban areas.

SERAIKELA – On the first day of the 48-hour bandh, called in protest against the 60:40 Employment policy, Jharkhand witnessed mixed reactions.

The bandh, called by the Jharkhandi Bhasha Khatian Sangharsh Samiti and Jharkhand Student Union, saw protestors blocking the National Highway 32 and 33, passing through the Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

However, urban areas appeared unaffected, with life continuing as normal, while rural areas saw heated protests.

Protestors blocked traffic by burning tyres and shouting anti-government slogans.

There were intense exchanges between bandh supporters and the police amidst administrative promptness.

Despite the morning hours seeing no long-distance buses in operation, the situation normalized as the day progressed.

The 48-hour shutdown is part of a phased agitation by the Jharkhandi Bhasha Khatian Sangharsh Samiti and Jharkhand Student Union against the Jharkhand government’s 60:40 Employment policy.

Protesters have made it clear that their movement will continue until the government addresses their demands. It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold over the next 24 hours.
