Tragic Incident in Mango: Mentally Unwell Woman Dies in Fire
A 57-year-old mentally unwell woman, K Devi, reportedly caused a fire in her body late Sunday night in Gurudwara Basti, Cross Road No. 8, Mango resulting in her death.
JAMSHEDPUR A shocking incident unfolded late Sunday night in Gurudwara Basti, Cross Road No. 8, under Mango police station. K Devi, 57, set herself afire reportedly after dousing herself with diesel.
By the time family members discovered the horrific scene, K Devi had already died.
S Kumar Singh, Devi’s husband, informed the Mango police when he woke up in the middle of the night to find her missing from their room.
Upon searching outside, he discovered the tragic sight of his wife engulfed in flames.
The police reached the scene and transported the body to the local mortuary for post-mortem.
Following the completion of the post-mortem on Monday,
Devi’s body was returned to her grieving family.
According to Devi’s elder son, S Narayan, his father, who works in event lighting for marriages and parties, always kept diesel at home for generator usage.
Tragically, Devi used this readily available fuel to set herself on fire after leaving her room for the bathroom late in the night.
S Narayan disclosed that his mother had been suffering from mental health issues and had undergone treatment in Patna seven years prior.
While she had recovered post-treatment, she had recently started displaying increased irritability.
