Massive Seizure of Illegal Doda in Tamar: 2259 Kg Confiscated

Police intercept a truck carrying 2259 kg of illegal doda in 150 gunny bags near the Kubasal market in Tamar, marking a significant operation against illicit drug trade.

Jamshedpur – A substantial drug bust was carried out in Tamar, where police, acting on a tip-off, seized 2259 kg of illegal doda stashed in a truck.

The contraband was concealed in 150 gunny bags.

The successful operation was conducted near the Kubasal market under the Tamar police station jurisdiction.

The team was led by the Bundu subdivision police officer in collaboration with the “C” company of the 26 B Bahini Shashatra Seema Bal, Basukocha, and Tamar police station.

The truck, bearing the license plate RJ-19-GE-5882, was halted during a routine check, based on the received secret information.

DSP Ajay Kumar mentioned that the police were informed about a truck loaded with illegal doda originating from the Basu Kocha forest and heading towards Tamar.

As the police swooped in, the driver took advantage of the darkness and fled towards the forest. The search of the vehicle led to the uncovering of the illegal haul.

The police are currently on the lookout for the driver, and further investigation is underway.

Doda is the leftover of opium poppy once its milk is extracted, which is the base of most of the drugs.

Doda is not as strong as milk but still addictive.

“Doda-post” is a drug made of poppy husk, and is consumed widely in Rajasthan and Punjab.

The drug was in the news, when the Rajasthan Government decided to put a ban on sale of the drug.
