Health Dept keeping eye on influenza, H1N1, H3N2, Covid-19 cases in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Even while the PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for greater testing of patients with respiratory infections and improved lab surveillance, the district health department is keeping an alert eye on the number of cases of influenza and other seasonal viral infections including H1N1, H3N2 and Covid-19.

Jamshedpur is now coping with an increase in instances of fever, upper respiratory tract infections, and seasonal influenza as the number of COVID-19 cases in the city is also seeing a gradual uptick.

Increasing number of people are being diagnosed with respiratory tract infections, viral fevers, and other diseases at the mohalla clinics as well as hospitals.

Health experts attribute this to weather variations and rains.

Some illness symptoms resemble COVID-19’s symptoms, which makes diagnosis all the more difficult by the family doctors.

Health experts are worried about the rising number of new Covid-19 cases in India, and both the union and state governments are keeping a careful eye on the matter.

The simultaneous surge in influenza infections, including H1N1 and H3N2, has complicated matters.

The countrywide situation is the same more or less.

In order to address the escalating number of Covid-19 cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday has asked for improved lab surveillance, greater testing of patients with severe acute respiratory infection, and more genome sequencing.

He also underlined the need for people to be vigilant and take safeguards against the infection. Also, Modi talked about the current spike in H1N1 and H3N2 infections and emphasized the significance of adhering to Covid-appropriate conduct and respiratory cleanliness.

Over the last 24 hours, 1,134 new cases have been reported across the nation.

In Jamshedpur, to combat these illnesses, the administration is employing several different strategies.

It also wants to raise awareness of the disease among school and college students, slum residents, and the general public using loudspeakers and leaflets.

Promoting excellent hygiene habits and avoiding crowded areas would be the main priorities. Officers and health professionals will receive training on how to successfully carry out the awareness campaign.

The flu, commonly referred to as seasonal influenza, is a highly infectious viral infection that mainly affects people during season change.

It is brought on by many influenza virus strains and can result in fatal consequences including pneumonia and bronchitis.

Droplets and contacting infected surfaces both transmit the flu.
