Man’s dead body found hanging from ceiling in Barigora Gayatri Nagar, murder suspected

Jamshedpur: Subodh Kumar, a 46-year-old resident of Telco Khadangjhar, was found dead on Monday in Barigoda Gayatri Nagar, which comes under the jurisdiction of Parsudih police station. The police found his dead body hanging from the ceiling. The police suspect he was murdered and then hanged as an attempt was also made to burn the body.

Subodh appeared to have been murdered, since his body showed evidence of injury, including a damaged eye.

The body was partially charred in an attempt to hide the evidence and had been decaying for days.

Locals noticed a stench coming from the neighborhood and called the police. They removed the corpse from the scene after arrival and sent it for an autopsy.

The deceased Subodh had been staying in a rented house owned by Dhan Singh in Gayatri Nagar for two months. Subodh resided in Radhikanagar in Telco’s Khadangajhar neighborhood.

According to information received, the deceased lived with a woman in the home, and used to arrive home late at night and depart early in the morning. A stench has been emanating from the house for some time. Subodh’s motorcycle was parked outside. However, the room was closed from outside, which led the locals to suspect something amiss.

The cops came at the spot after being informed by the locals and broke the door to the locked room where they found Subodh’s dead body.

Ram Kumar Verma, the officer in-charge, said that a probe is being conducted to ascertain whether it was a case of murder or suicide.

He said that an attempt was made to burn the dead body. Subsequent investigation showed that the woman who lived with Subodh is missing too. The matter is being investigated by the police.
