Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has warned that the participation of the United States and the Western military alliance NATO in the Ukraine war could have disastrous consequences. News channels reported that he gave this warning at the conference on disarmament in Geneva on Thursday.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said that US and NATO policies aimed at further escalating the conflict in Ukraine and its surrounding areas pose a serious strategic threat. Increased US and NATO involvement in armed conflict could have disastrous consequences. At the same time, nuclear powers pose a risk of direct military conflict.
Western diplomats left the conference room ignoring Ryabkov’s speech. They got out and took pictures in front of a mural draped in the Ukrainian flag.
British Ambassador Simon Manley said, “Until Russia withdraws its tanks from Ukraine, we will continue to support our colleagues in Ukraine. Their war is our war.”
Ukrainian ambassador Yevnia Filippenko said, “We consider this to be an extraordinary sign of solidarity with the people of Ukraine against Russia’s unprovoked and unjust aggression.”
