Special drive against single use plastic, encroachment in Jugsalai

Large quantity of banned plastic confiscated, fines collected from errant vendors

Jamshedpur: The Jugsalai Municipal Corporation and Jugsalai Traffic Police launched a drive against single use plastic in Jugsalai area on Wednesday. A large quantity of single use plastic was also seized during the drive.

The drive was conducted in the Jugsalai market to address the issue of encroachment outside the shops and also to discourage the use of single-use plastic.

The officials also took legal action against those found to be in violation and recovered a large quantity of plastic.

Jugsalai Municipal Corporation’s City Manager Lokesh Kumar stated that they will continue to conduct such drives in future too and would levy fines as well as confiscate goods from those who do not comply.

He said that they will also continue to focus on reducing the use of single-use plastic and rued the fact that the shopkeepers are still using such plastic, despite the fact that it is prohibited by the Jugsalai Municipal Corporation.
