Golmuri triple murder case solved, police constable driver arrested

SSP: The accused was suspicious about Savita’s friendship with someone else, killed her in a fit of rage, based on evidence collected by police the culprit would be punished severely

Jamshedpur: The city police have solved the Golmuri triple murder case. The SSP Prabhat Kumar today revealed that the person who murdered Savita Mahato, daughter Geeta and Mother Lakhia was none other than a police driver constable Ramchandra Singh Jamuda. The accused has been arrested and the modus operandi has been established and clinching evidence collected.

The SSP Prabhat Kumar said that the police team has solved the mystery of the triple murder case that took place on July 21 in a residential colony flat located at Golmuri Police Line, Jamshedpur within 15 hours.

He said that Savita’s friend Ramchandra Singh Jamuda was the only accused in the Golmuri triple murder case that had caused a sensation in the entire city.

Disclosing the facts of the case to the media on Saturday, the SSP Prabhat Kumar said that Savita Mahto, a female clerk working in the SSP office, her daughter Geeta and mother Lakhia Murmu were murdered with a gear lever.

He said that this murder was committed by Ramchandra Singh Jamuda, a resident of Sonari Kagalnagar, a constable driver, who was friends with Savita.

The SSP said that the accused was suspicious that Savita might be having friendship with another person and he suspected that Savita was also talking to the other person.

According to the SSP, the target of accused Jamuda was to eliminate Savita’s other friend.But on the night of July 19, when he went to the flat located on the police line, there was an altercation with Savita over something.

That’s when he first attacked Savita, then the daughter who came to her rescue and then also killed her grandmother by attacking her too.

The SSP said that after committing the murders, the accused fled the place after locking the door from outside.

Soon after the incident, an SIT was formed under the leadership of ASP Sudhanshu Jain and a case was registering at Golmuri police station.

The City SP Vijay Shankar was closely monitoring the case himself, while CCR DSP, Headquarters DSP and many station in-charges were also deployed in the case.

The team uncovered the entire case by way of technical research within 15 hours.

The SSP said that the four people who were kept for questioning have been released due to lack of evidence against them.

The gear lever used in the incident, blood-soaked clothes and two mobile phones were seized. He said that based on the clinching evidence collected by the police, the culprit would be punished severely.

Triple murder that shook the city

Earlier, a lady police department clerk posted in the SSP office and two members of her family were murdered in her Golmuri Police Line apartment on Thursday night. Sabita Hembrom (39), her daughter Geeta (13), and her mother Lakhia Murmu (75) were identified as the victims.

Policemen live on the first floor of the six-story police apartment. 

Senior SP Prabhat Kumar and City SP K Vijay Shankar were among the police officers who hurried to the scene after hearing the news. 

Investigators were sent to the murder scene to get CCTV footage of the area. 

The senior SP ordered that a forensics team be sent to the murder scene. 

The body of Savita was found on the bed of flat number J 5, block number 2 of Golmuri police line. 

The police found blood-soaked bodies lying on the floor.

People from the flat came out after a foul scent came out of the flat. 

After the forensics arrived, samples were gathered. 

On the evening of July 21, SSP Prabhat Kumar requested the police to go to the flat, where they found the dead body of the constable, her daughter, and mother. 

Savita’s husband Kailash Hembrom was killed by Naxals in Ghatshila area. Later, she was employed by the police on compassionate grounds.
