Birsanagar PS SI faces charges of sexual abuse

Preliminary probe finds allegations of sexual abuse prima facie true, probe report to be submitted on Sunday, legal and departmental action likely

Jamshedpur: In a sensation development, a preliminary probe by the city police has found the allegations of sexual abuse against a sub-inspector of Birsanagar police station as prima facie true.

A team of lady police officers reached the victim’s house and recorded the statements of the family members of the victim. The police team also went to the sites pointed out by the victim.

During probe, the team learnt that even the family members were aware about the misdemeanour of the Sub-inspector.

The family members told the probe team that the accused sub inspect Ravi R used to visit the victim’s house and he had even attended the marriage ceremony of the victim’s sister.

The CCR Dy SP Animesh Gupta, who as leading the probe, found the allegations of sexual abuse prima facie true.

He said that the probe report would possibly be submitted to the City SP Subhash Chandra Jat on Sunday.

After the report is submitted and examined by the senior police officials, there is every likelihood that legal and departmental action would be initiated against the accused.

The City SP S C Jat said that he has not received the probe report yet. Appropriate action would be taken after he sees the report, he said.

The accused has been absconding. Earlier, the accused was posted in Baharagora police station. During his tenure there, he got in touch with the woman through social media. Later, they got into a relationship.

The allegations against the accused is that he misled and cheated the woman on false promise of marriage and continued to abuse her sexually.
