Ranchi: Chanchala Kumari, the sub-junior woman wrestler from Jharkhand, who has been selected for representing India in the Sub-junior World Wrestling Championship slated to be held in Budapest, met the Chief Minister Hemant Soren at Project building on Friday.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister congratulated Ms. Chanchala on being selected for the International Wrestling Competition and gave her his best wishes for the competition.
The chief minister has assured that the government will provide every possible sports resourses to her.
The chief minister also directed Pooja Singhal, Secretary, Department of Tourism, Art-Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs to provide all necessary resources to Chanchla.
The World Wrestling Championship is being organised in Budapest, Hungary from July 19-25, in which wrestler Chanchala Kumari will represent the country.
Bholanath Singh, President,Jharkhand State Wrestling Association ,Shri Bablu Kumar, Coach and Shri Mukul Topno of JSSPS were also present during the meeting.
Chanchala is the first player from Jharkhand to represent the country in wrestling. The state has given a few stellar sporting heroes in the arena of cricket, hockey and archery.
Chanchala is a tribal student of Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSSPS) and she came first in the selection trial conducted in New Delhi recently.
Chanchala’s father Narendra Nath Pahan is a farmer and also work as a plumber. She could not study due to financial problems and was forced to choose sports as a career, which finally worked as a boon for her.
