Dead body found in water tank in Adityapur Industrial Area

Adityapur: A decomposed dead body was found in a water tank in Adityapur Industrial Area under the jurisdiction of RIT Police Station.

Questions are now being raised on the safety of water tanks as a dead body has been found in a water tank located in the industrial area under RIT police station of Kharsawan district. On Saturday, the Commissioner of Adityapur Municipal Corporation held a meeting with officials of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation and issued directives to ensure safety of all water tanks in the area.

Many councilors including the Mayor were also present in this meeting.

The dead body was decomposed and it is estimated that the body was lying in the water tank for more than 15 days. The body is completely decomposed and is still trapped in the supply line.

The dead body could not be removed till the report was being filed. Sources hinted that the process of taking out dead body can begin only after an NDRF team arrives from Ranchi.

On the other hand, after the bodies were found in the water tank, people of non-company areas including Adityapur Residential Colony and Industrial Area have started emptying the water stored in the tanks of their houses

This means that for the last 15 days, a large population was dependent on the the same supplied water. The safety and security of water tanks is questionable and it can be assessed from the fact that hundreds of liquor bottles and wrappers have been found around the water tank.

At the same time, a jacket has also been found near the water tank. There is a possibility that the jacket belonged to the deceased. However, the deceased has not been identified yet.

The Municipal Commissioner has clearly issued an order to the PHED department officials to ensure the safety of water tanks.

At the same time, the Mayor has also instructed the officials of the department to ensure the safety of the water tanks of the area.
