Samajik Seva Sangh demands relaxation in helmet checking for old and sick persons
Jamshedpur: Continued helmet checking in the city is now drawing citizens’ ire too. A delegation of Samajik Sewa Sangh on Saturday met the SSP of Jamshedpur and urged him to do away with anomalies in helmet checking and also ensure that citizens are not inconvenienced by the helmet checking.
The delegation apprised the SSP about an incident at Kashidih Turnaround where a citizen was forced got pay money via Google Pay for not wearing helmet without giving the challan paper to the citizen.
The delegation told the SSP that recently during helmet checking in Kashidih, a policeman forced a citizen to pay money through Google Pay without issuing challan papers.
The delegation said that the police officials threatened that citizen that his vehicle would be towed by a crane and taken to the police station. In fact, the delegation said, the they even started to tie the vehicle with the crane.
The delegation said that the district administration should punish officials indulging in corrupt practices and ensure that senior citizens, women and sick patients are not harassed in the name of helmet checking.
The president of Samajik Sewa Sangh Rajesh Samant said that although wearing helmet is necessary for everyone, the administration should also ensure that it does not inconvenience senior citizens and sick patients.
