Bank of India employees demand arrest of assault-accused customer

Jamshedpur: Miffed at no arrest and police action against a customer accused of assault on bank employees visiting the customer’s house for loan recovery under the jurisdiction of Jugsalai police station, a delegation of Bank of India employees today arrived at the District Police headquarters and met the City SP demanding action against the accused and seeking security for bank employees.

Later, the bank employees said that a consumer had taken loan from their bank. The bank employees had gone to his house to collect the dues against him. However, he assaulted the bank employees.

They said that despite having lodged a complaint with the Jugsalai police station, the accused has not been arrested by the police yet. They said that this has caused fear and apprehension in the mind of bank employees.

They said that if the customers continue to behave with them in this manner, and if the police do not provide them security, then banks would desist from issuing loans to even those who need these loans.
