Corona pandemic declining in Jamshedpur, recovery rate up: Dr. Rajan Chaudhry

New admissions down from 243 to 201, recovery rate up from 82.33% to 83.16%

Jamshedpur: Dr. Rajan Chaudhry, the former GM and now Advisor of Medical Services, Tata Steel reiterated his earlier view that coronavirus pandemic has been showing a declining trend in the city.

Speaking to the media in a tele-conference on Saturday, Dr. Chaudhry said that Corona has been on a steady decline for the last few weeks and the indications are positive. The good news is that the number of coronavirus patients has been receding steadily and the recovery rate has now gone up from 82.33 pc to 83.16 pc.

He said that the RT PCR test positivity rate too has come down from 30 pc to 6.6 pc, while RAT positivity rate has come down from 9 pc to 3.80 pc.

He said that last week 243 corona patients were admitted in TMH, while this week the number has come down to 201, which shows a clear decline in numbers. He, however, added that the number of patients cured and discharged too has come down. IN all, the situation has improved slightly, but the city would have to prepare well to confront the second wave of pandemic.

The weekly teleconference was also attended by Kulwin Suri, Chief, Corporate Communications and Runa Rajeev Kumar, Head, CC, Tata Steel.

Dr. Chaudhry said that till date 73 patients have received convalescent plasma therapy, out of which 31 pc patients have tested negative. He said that despite being cured some patients’ lungs are getting impacted due to corona and they are facing breathing difficulties and some are even succumbing to it.

He said that even now TMH is treated 23 patients who have been cured of corona, but their lungs are so damaged that they have been kept on ventilation.

He said that 40 pc of the deaths have occurred within 8-12 hours of admission in the hospital. 59 patients above 80 years of age have been cured too, which clearly is a positive indication.

Dr. Rajan Chaudhry says that Coronavirus pandemic is on the decline in Jamshedpur city as numbers are improving slowly.

Dr. Chaudhry further said that several patients cured of corona are facing problems like breathing difficulties, weakness etc. To provide relief to such patients a Corona Clinical Facility would be started in the hospital next week. The doctors would treat such patients according to symptoms. He said that in the last MD Online programme a committee member had made this suggestion and the MD himself had assured that this would be implemented.

Dr. Chaudhry said that TMH’s app is already operational and patients can get the status of patients every 6-8 hour and this is helping the family members of the patients in a big way.
