Banned drugs worth Rs 20 lakh seized, four arrested

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district drug control department Wednesday cracked down on a racket dealing in spurious medicines by arresting four of its members from Golmuri. Fake medicines worth Rs 20 lakh were also seized, sources said.

Drug Inspector Kunj Bihari Choudhary said a huge stock of prohibited drug Tramadol was recovered from the possession of the accused persons. He said the arrests were made on the basis of a tip-off.

¨We had been getting inputs regarding the flourishing trade of prohibited drugs in the city since the last few days. A team was set up and sent to the suspected hideouts. The drugs were brought here from Patna. The four youths had come here to take delivery when they were arrested red-handed,¨ said Choudhary.
