Soaring temperatures and heat wave alert prompt parents to seek school timing modifications
The Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh (Parents’ Association) has appealed to authorities to modify school timings across all categories of schools in response to the extreme summer conditions in the region.
JAMSHEDPUR – With temperatures soaring to 41 degrees Celsius in Kolhan, including East Singhbhum district, and a yellow alert issued by the Meteorological Department for heat wave conditions prevailing from April 4-5, parents are expressing concerns over the health and well-being of their children.
Currently, most schools are concluding at 1:30 pm, which coincides with peak heat hours, posing significant health risks for students.
Dr. Umesh Kumar, President of the Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh, highlighted these concerns, emphasizing the potential adverse effects of the scorching temperatures on children’s health.
In light of these concerns, the Association has appealed to the Deputy Commissioner and District Education Superintendent, urging for a modification in school timings.
They have proposed school timings from 6:30 am to 11:30 am to mitigate the impact of the intense heat on students.
The Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh believes that adjusting school timings will provide a safer environment for students, reducing their exposure to the extreme heat during the hottest hours of the day.
