Residents of Parsudih, Jamshedpur, struggle with the failing drainage system, as their homes get flooded and fear of disease escalates.

JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of Parsudih Munshi Mohalla, falling under Dakshin Kalimati Panchayat, are forced to endure miserable living conditions due to a completely failed drainage system.

The system’s failure has resulted in widespread flooding in the area, causing houses to be submerged and increasing fears of disease outbreak.

Despite residents notifying their local representatives, including the MLA and the MP, about the state of the issue, there has been no improvement.

As a result of only two rainfalls, the drainage water has infiltrated into homes, leaving people with no option but to live outside their houses for the past five days.

Neither the panchayat representatives, district administration, nor railway management have taken any decisive action, leaving the residents to fend for themselves.

Despite monsoon season knocking at the doors of the state, less rain is being recorded than usual.

However, even the minimal rainfall has caused dreadful and frightening circumstances due to the inundation.

Increasing cases of dengue and malaria have also been reported in the area.

The local women, like Babita Singh, are finding it difficult to carry out their daily chores.

She reported that the elected representatives only visit for photo opportunities and then leave, disregarding the residents’ plight.

Moreover, she highlighted the role of the railway management, as a drain passes through a nearby railway land, thereby making it their responsibility to ensure its cleanliness.

Unfortunately, instead of assistance, the entire area seems to have been abandoned, left to deal with the escalating outbreak of diseases on their own.
